Sony Releases New Versions of Movie Studio

Who needs professional video editing tools when consumer tools are this easy and this powerful? Sony Creative Software just updated its consumer line of video editors to lucky version 13. Here’s what you’ll get in Movie Studio 13 Platinum and Movie Studio 13 Suite.

SonyMovieStudioPlatinum13Movie Studio 13 Platinum retails for $79.95, but existing users can upgrade for $49.95. New features this time include the choice between simple and advanced editing modes, letting the users decide how much complexity they want; a touch interface just right for Windows 8 computers; the ability to work with native 4K XAVC S files, which gets out in front of the 4K revolution; the ability to upload finished videos directly to Facebook (the program could already upload directly to YouTube); a plugin for matching colors; a streamlined Make Movie dialog for saving finished movies; and help bubbles that offer advice when you need it.

“This release is centered on streamlining the editing process for a smoother creative flow resulting in consistently great movies,” says Dave Chaimson, divisional vice president for Sony Creative Software.

For a little bit more money ($139.95 or an upgrade price of $79.95), buyers can step up to Movie Studio 13 Suite. This combination of tools includes Movie Studio 13 Platinum and all the new features mentioned above, as well as DVD Architect Studio 5, Sound Forge Audio Studio 10, ACID Music Studio 10, iZotop Vocal Eraser technology, video effects units by BorisFX, HitFilm 2 Ultimate video plug-ins from FXHome, 3D Tilting and Video Effects from NewBlueFX, 50 music tracks from Sony, and Jump Start training tutorials. The big two there are Sound Forge Audio Studio for recording high-resolution audio and ACID music studio for mixing recorded audio.
