End HD Video Horrors: Beauty Box Video 2.0 Smooths Rough Edges

High-definition video pulls out all kinds of details in your subjects — like blemishes, fine wrinkles, and shine. That’s the double-edged sword of HD. Rather than caking on extra foundation, get a perfect look with Beauty Box, a video plug-in that’s just released its 2.0 version.

New to this version is support for Final Cut Pro X. Now you can use the latest version of Final Cut and make sure your subjects have flawless skin. Beauty Box also works with Final Cut Pro 7, Premiere Pro CS4 through CS6, and After Effects 7.0 to CS6.

The 2.0 version works faster than ever, thanks to a complete rewrite of the algorithm that powers it. The company behind it, Digital Anarchy, claims that it runs up to 300 percent faster on ATI and NVIDIA cards.

That shine removal is also new to this version. Beauty Box can erase hot spots caused by oily skin and bright lights. Other new features include better masking and better performance with Premiere Pro.

The program runs on Mac OS X 10.5 to 10.8, and Windows XP to 7. A new version costs $199, but that’s discounted to $139 until June 1. Returning customers can upgrade for $59 until June 1, and $89 after that.
