YouTube Reaches out to Businesses with AdWords, Ambassadors

Large or small, if your company is using online video you can’t afford to neglect YouTube. As the biggest video site by far and the second-biggest search engine, it’s a great way to get your message in front of new customers. Now, YouTube is doing more to help businesses succeed.

There are a lot of videos on YouTube — the site gets 60 hours of content uploaded every minute –so you need a way to stand out. Google, which owns YouTube, has now opened its Google AdWords for Video program to all companies. With AdWords for Video, you only make sure your video gets in front of target viewers and only play when they watch your ads.

Advertisers can select where their ad appears, such as in video search results or next to related content. Google says that YouTube video ads typically increase site traffic by 20 percent and searches by 5 percent.

To get companies trying AdWords, Google is offering $75 credits to new companies that sign up.

There are two places you can look for excellent tips on how to succeed with YouTube: this very site and the YouTube Advertiser Playbook. If you’re looking for advice how to improve your business with online video or how to use AdWords for Video, download YouTube’s own free guide.

Learn from other company’s successes. To highlight businesses that have used YouTube to reach success, Google has named nine YouTube marketing ambassadors. Read about them on Google’s blog.
