Funny 15 Winner Announced: Amateur Video-maker Takes iPad Prize

Many entered, 15 videos made the final round, but in the end there could be only one winner. Congratulations to Tom Williamson of Marlborough, Massachusetts, who received the most votes in our Funny 15 contest.

The Funny 15 was’s attempt to find the funniest 15-second pre-roll video created in the past year. While most of the entries came from professional video advertising studios, Williamson was the only entrant who chose to create an original work for the contest.

Williamson’s unauthorized ad for Groupon (with the tagline “It makes sense”) was funny enough to be chosen by our judges for the final round, and Williamson was skilled at motivating the viewer votes needed to take the top spot. For his efforts, he’ll receive an Apple iPad, a $499 value.

A carpenter by trade, Williamson is also a freelance writer and hobbyist videographer. He hopes to one day make film his career. He’s also an avid skier and ultimate Frisbee player.

Thanks to all who entered and thanks to Playkast for providing the entry and voting module that made the contest possible. Viewers can see Tom’s entry, as well as the other 14 finalists, in the box below.
