News Extends the Video in Practice Contest Deadline’s first contest is already a hit. This site launched its first-ever contest, the Video in Practice (VIP) contest, on April 11. Its goal is to reward businesses both large and small that are using online video effectively and creatively. Since then, entries have been streaming in from companies and organizations around the globe. Got a video that you’re proud of? Then enter it!

To make sure that everyone that wants to enter has a chance, we’ve decided to extend the submission deadline by one week. To enter, go to the contest homepage and upload a video:

After submitting a video, use the email link on the contest page to tell us about your site and how you’re using online video.

All entries will be judged by the online public in a voting round that lasts from May 9 to May 23. That will determine the top three entries in each of the five categories (small business, large business, local products and services, national products and services, and nonprofit/government/educational or other organization).

Once the top three entrants in all categories are decided, our judges will determine the winners. There’s an Apple iPad 2 in it for You
The entrants are now competing for an even bigger prize: the winner in each of the five categories will take home an iPad 2 (a $499 value). This is in addition to the previously announced prizes. Up for grabs is Adobe Creative Suite 5 Production Premium (a $1,699 value), Microsoft Expression Encoder 4 Pro (a $299 value), Sorenson Media Squeeze 7 (a $799 value), Telestream Wirecast 4.0 (a $449 value), and Wowza Media Server (a $995 value). Sponsors for the contest include Adobe, Microsoft, Sorenson, Telestream, and Wowza Media, all of whom contributed prizes for the winners.

The contest is open to companies and organizations around the world. Anyone who has created outstanding online video is encouraged to enter.
