Video-sharing site Vimeo has already established itself as the more creative alternative to YouTube, and now it’s making itself even more attractive to video creators by upping its size limits for uploaded videos.
Vimeo Plus members can now upload single files that are up to 5GB in size. That’s a huge increase over the previous limit, 2GB, and means that works can now run up to 2.5 hours in HD video. The change allows video creators to post entire feature films or full-length documentaries to the site.
“Since we launched our Vimeo Plus service two years ago, we have continually added to and rounded out its offerings,” says Dae Mellencamp, Vimeo’s general manager. “We continually strive to provide our subscriber base with the best and most robust features available.”
Vimeo Plus accounts go for $59.95 per year or $9.95 per month. While Vimeo announced the upload changes today, the Vimeo Plus page still lists the older size limits.
