Interest in HTML5 video is exploding, thanks to its support by Apple’s mobile devices, and today marks an important step for its adoption. Brightcove will go live in early summer with an HTML5 video advertising solution that lets companies deliver ad-supported video to any HTML5-compatible device, including the Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.
The technology comes from a partnership between online video platform Brightcove and FreeWheel, an online ad management company. It combines Brightcove’s HTML5 support with turnkey integration of FreeWheel’s Monetization Rights Management product.
The solution will incorporate Brightcove’s intelligent device detection, playlist rendering, and H.264 playback. Customers will be able to push HTML5-compatible advertising into the video stream with FreeWheel’s Monetization Rights Management tool.
